Bathroom Deep-Clean: A Room-by-Room Guide

Bathroom Deep-Clean: A Room-by-Room Guide

Bathrooms collect three stubborn things — soap scum, hard water stains and grime in the grout — and each one needs a slightly different approach. Here's a corner-by-corner plan that actually gets results.

1. Taps & fittings first

Hard water leaves a chalky white film on taps and shower fittings. Spray Miss Chemist Bathroom Cleaner directly on the metal, leave for 2–3 minutes, then wipe with a soft cloth — the descaling action lifts the film without scratching the finish.

2. Soap scum on tiles & glass

Soap scum is a mix of soap and mineral deposits, which is why plain water never fully removes it. Spray generously, let it sit, then wipe in circular motions with a non-scratch sponge.

3. Grout lines

For grout between tiles, an old toothbrush works better than any cloth. Dip it in the cleaner and scrub along the lines — the thick formula clings to vertical surfaces instead of dripping straight off.

"Tough on stains, gentle on surfaces — that's the whole idea behind a proper bathroom cleaner."

4. Descale the showerhead

If your shower has turned into a light drizzle, mineral deposits are probably blocking the holes. Soak the showerhead in diluted cleaner for 15–20 minutes, then scrub gently with an old brush.

5. Finish with the floor

Once everything above is done, mop the bathroom floor last so any drips or splashes get cleaned up in the same pass — not before it.

Do this once every couple of weeks and your bathroom stays in that "just cleaned" state far longer, with a lot less scrubbing each time.
